Job Description
The role of a Geriatric Medicine Specialist is to provide expert care for older patients with complex medical needs. This involves leading multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with community services to deliver comprehensive geriatric assessment and care.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead multidisciplinary care of older patients across acute and rehabilitation settings.
* Provide inpatient consultations across medical and surgical wards.
* Collaborate with community services, including public health nurses, GPs, and reablement teams.
* Supervise and teach junior doctors and other health professionals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Registration as a specialist in Geriatric Medicine or General Internal Medicine with the Medical Council in Ireland.
* Certified training and experience in geriatric and general internal medicine.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
