Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Blackrock, This role involves a mixture of pre- and post-contract work, and Cost Planning and Billing experience is essential. The role will involve developing and growing the department. We fast-track good performers, and there is plenty of headroom within the organisation to progress your career.
Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare or data centre projects would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the review and detailed interpretation of Civil, Structural, & Architectural (CSA) drawings, specifications, BOQs (Bills of Quantities), and project requirements to produce accurate, comprehensive, and competitive cost estimates for electrical installations and systems.
* Perform or oversee complex quantity take-offs, calculations of material requirements, labour hours, overheads, and programme timelines specific to various construction projects.
* Manage and lead collaboration with project managers, design teams, architects, engineers, key suppliers, and contractors to successfully deliver commercial outcomes for our clients.
* Take ownership of the full tender process, including preparation, coordination, pricing strategy, risk assessment, and submission of tender reports, ensuring compliance with client requirements and the project's commercial objectives.
* Develop, maintain, and strategically update cost databases, unit rates, and benchmarking data to reflect current market conditions, material price fluctuations, labour rates, and regional factors.
* Lead post-tender and post-contract commercial activities, including value engineering proposals, cost-benefit analysis, change/variation management, claims preparation/defence, interim valuations, and final account negotiation to maximise commercial outcomes.
* Provide commercial leadership and mentoring to junior Quantity Surveyors and team members, reviewing their work, ensuring quality and consistency, and supporting their professional development.
* Monitor project costs against budget throughout the project lifecycle, produce regular cost reports, forecasts, and cashflow projections, and proactively identify and mitigate commercial risks.
Requirements
* Qualified Quantity Surveyor with pre-contract consultancy experience.
* Chartered membership of the SCSI / RICS is desirable
* Experience in the Irish construction market.
* Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with estimating software [CostX] is advantageous but training will be provided.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
