Overview
Applications are invited for an appointment as Clinical Tutor in Patient Centred Care (Direct Entry Medicine Programme, Part-time (0.5FTE), Permanent post) in the School of Medicine, University of Galway.
This post is suitable for a Health & Social Care Professional or Nurse with experience working as part of an interprofessional team in the Irish Healthcare system, who has excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills and a strong track record in healthcare student teaching and/or clinical placement supervision.
Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver content relating to the revised Direct Entry Programme in the School of Medicine, focusing on the patient in the healthcare system and inter-professional practice.
* Collaborate with Clinical Tutor(s) in Patient Centred Care in the Direct Entry Medicine Programme.
* Work within the Department of Medical Education to support curriculum development, quality assurance, faculty training in teaching and assessment methodologies, clinical science and practice facilitation, student research, and leadership (module and programme).
* Contribute to postgraduate programmes, including supervision of masters students researching Health Professions’ Education.
Qualifications
* Health & Social Care Professional or Nurse with experience in an interprofessional healthcare setting.
* Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills; strong track record in healthcare student teaching and/or clinical placement supervision.
Details
Salary: €82,195 to €100,597 pro rata p.a. (new entrants effective from January, 2011). This appointment will be made on the clinical tutor 2 scale in line with current Government pay policy and University remuneration policy.
Closing date for receipt of applications: 17:00 (Irish Time) on 6 November 2025. Garda vetting may apply. Appointments conditional on work authorisation validation. The full-time hours of work for academic staff are 39 hours per week. Appointment dependent on University approval and the Employment Control Framework for the higher education sector.
