This is a rare and exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and long-term success of a new oncology service from the ground up.
You will lead and inspire a team of Radiation Therapists, working closely with a highly supportive Radiation Therapy Manager who champions innovation, excellence, and staff wellbeing. About the Role
As Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist, you will collaborate with renowned Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and multidisciplinary teams, utilising cutting-edge radiation therapy technology to deliver safe, precise, and compassionate patient care.
This role combines expert clinical practice with leadership, governance, and operational oversight, while also offering opportunities to engage in research, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives within a progressive cancer care environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Radiation Therapists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred radiation therapy services
2. Work collaboratively with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists to develop, review, and implement individualised treatment plans
3. Maintain the highest standards of patient safety through strict adherence to departmental protocols and regulatory requirements
4. Oversee and manage the department's Quality Assurance (QA) programme, ensuring all equipment and procedures meet required standards
5. Monitor staff performance, providing ongoing feedback, training, and professional development support
6. Ensure accurate treatment documentation, auditing, and compliance with governance and regulatory frameworks
7. Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and complex case discussions
8. Contribute to service development, research projects, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives
9. Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to enhance the overall patient experience
10. Provide compassionate communication and support to patients and their families throughout the treatment journey
Eligibility Criteria:
11. Recognised qualification in Radiation Therapy
12. Current CORU registration
13. Minimum 6 years' experience as a Radiation Therapist, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role
14. Demonstrated leadership, management, and team development skills
15. Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality standards (JCI, HIQA), and operational compliance
16. Evidence of empathetic, holistic, and patient-focused care
17. Proven ability to manage complaints effectively and professionally
18. Excellent organisational, communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills
19. Ability to make independent clinical decisions and solve complex problems
