Overview
The Technical Director – Civils will lead the technical and engineering functions of the business, ensuring best‑in‑class design, delivery, and compliance across all civil projects. The role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic technical leadership for all civil engineering activities.
Oversee project design, engineering, and technical delivery to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with Irish and EU standards.
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering and project management teams.
Act as the company’s technical authority on civil engineering matters.
Support business development with technical input for tenders, bids, and client presentations.
Ensure effective risk management, value engineering, and innovation are applied across projects.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, consultants, and contractors.
Drive continuous improvement in project delivery, sustainability, and digital engineering (e.g., BIM).
Represent the company at industry forums, regulatory discussions, and professional networks.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Civil Engineering (Chartered Engineer status essential).
Minimum 15 years’ experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership/technical director role.
Proven track record in delivering complex infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities, or marine works).
Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations, health & safety, and environmental compliance.
Excellent leadership, people management, and team development skills.
Commercial awareness and experience working with contracts such as NEC and FIDIC.
Strong problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
