Senior Estimator - Civil Contractor - KildareOffice/Project Location: KildareEmployment Type: PermanentWork Location: Office with hybrid working from home option 2 days per weekPay: Competitive salary package, negotiable depending on experience with a comprehensive company benefits packageExperience: 5+years?Our client is one of Ireland's leading Civil & Building Contractors with operations throughout the country.As a Senior Estimator, you will be working alongside an experienced pre-construction team based in Kildare and with their regional offices.Co-ordinate with bid teams, colleagues in the estimating department and in the wider Pre-construction teamManage and deliver cost estimates at various stages in scheme development, scope definition and design maturity to meet challenging timescales, including multiple iterations of budget and target pricesContribute to optioneering and feasibility assessments, value engineering proposals, liaise with bid and project teams representing a range of disciplines to develop and refine proposals and budget costs through to final target price estimatesLiaise with clients, designers and other consultants, quantity surveyors and other third partiesOrganise and administer tender documents, correspondence, enquiries and quotationsChallenge and contribute to all aspects of the bid preparation and submission and investigate safe and cost-effective solutionsCollect and distribute feedback and maintain awareness of latest techniquesPrepare cost estimates from first principles using Candy estimating softwareOrganise and participate in bid preparation and review meetingsPrepare tender summary information and priced risk and opportunity registersPrepare and communicate estimate information for bid review meetings and for handover to project teamsEnsure organisation and approval for measurement and production of measured quantities from drawings or BIM models for incorporation in tender enquiriesEnsuring all cost data used is up to date and is updated as requiredAttendance at mid/post tender interviews with the Client team on bids under considerationProduction of handover documentation to Project Commercial Team on successful bidsDevelop and maintain relationships with external Clients and ConsultantsLiaison and reporting to the corporate for compliance, incorporation and approval of corporate governanceRequirementsLevel 8 Honours Bachelor Degree or equivalent levelSuitable civil engineering project experience in management, engineering or commercial roles with contractorsProven estimating experience in civil engineering bids, particularly roads, bridges, rail, marine or water sectors.
Considerable variety in types of work and disciplines priced, with understanding of methods and typical production rates / outputsDemonstrable understanding of common forms of contract and methods of measurement used in the Irish marketShould demonstrate leadership and management skills and have experience of managing a team to achieve deadlinesExpert commercial acumen and problem-solving skillsExcellent client facing and supply chain facing skillsStrong and effective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to perform multiple tasks at a high level of qualityAbility to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environmentExperience of Candy Estimating software is preferred but not essential as training will be providedPackageCompetitive salary package, negotiable depending on experience with a comprehensive company benefits package
