Platform Engineer
Remote-first role with occasional on-site visits to Kerry
A technology-led organisation in the financial services space is hiring a Platform Engineer to help design and build a greenfield cloud platform from the ground up. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating scalable, self-service infrastructure rather than maintaining legacy systems.
You'll be part of a platform team responsible for building cloud-native infrastructure that enables product engineering teams to move fast without infrastructure becoming a bottleneck.
The Role
1. Build and operate greenfield cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
2. Design and run production Kubernetes platforms (GKE / AKS)
3. Create fully automated, self-service environments using Terraform and GitOps
Key Responsibilities
4. Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure in GCP and Azure using Terraform (modules, not just consumption)
5. Operate and evolve Kubernetes clusters using Helm, Kustomize, and ArgoCD
6. Implement GitOps-based CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications
7. Build observability using Prometheus and Grafana
8. Automate everything using Bash and Python/Go/Ruby
9. Design secure cloud networking (VPCs, VPNs, peering, network policies)
10. Implement IAM/RBAC and authentication (OIDC, SAML, LDAP)
11. Contribute to documentation, on-call rotation, and internal platform tooling
Essential Skills & Experience
12. Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production
13. Deep experience with Terraform (writing and maintaining reusable modules)
14. Production experience in GCP and/or Azure
15. Solid understanding of cloud networking and security fundamentals
16. Experience with GitLab CI/CD or similar modern pipeline tooling
17. Comfortable working in regulated or security-conscious environments
Nice to Have
18. Experience in financial services or regulated industries
19. Kubernetes (CKA), cloud certifications (GCP / Azure)
20. Secrets management tools (Vault, cloud-native secret managers)
21. GitOps-first operating models
