We are urgently seeking aClinical Nurse Specialist ENT or Urology for our hospital in Westmeath, Ireland.
Responsibilities Deliver expert nursing care to patients attending ENT clinics, theatre, and day surgery, providing both pre- and post-operative support.
Undertake nurse-led assessments and assist in diagnostic and minor ENT procedures as appropriate.
Manage and support patients with ENT conditions such as ear infections, nasal obstruction, sinusitis, tonsillitis, and balance disorders.
Coordinate care for patients undergoing ENT surgery, ensuring pre-operative readiness and appropriate post-operative follow-up.
Act as a specialist resource for nursing and medical teams, contributing to the development and implementation of ENT care pathways and clinical guidelines.
Provide comprehensive patient and family education before and after procedures, promoting understanding of treatment and recovery plans.
Collaborate effectively with Consultants, allied health professionals, and nursing colleagues to ensure smooth communication and coordinated care delivery.
Promote best practices in patient safety, infection prevention, and evidence-based care, participating in audits and service evaluations.
Support the professional growth of colleagues by offering mentorship, clinical supervision, and ENT-specific education.
Engage in continuous professional development, staying updated on best practices, research, and innovations in ENT nursing.
Requirements Must be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Minimum of five years post-registration experience, including at least two years in ENT, Head & Neck, or a related surgical specialty.
Possess, or be actively pursuing, a recognised post-registration qualification in a relevant specialty area.
Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
Exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
Demonstrate clinical expertise, leadership ability, and strong multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Computer literate with competence in clinical information systems.
Evidence of involvement in clinical audit, service evaluation, or quality improvement initiatives.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge and clinical skills in ENT nursing practice.
