Join The Grace Westport Estate, a remarkable new hotel opening in Spring **** on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, at the heart of the captivating Westport Estate.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of hotel facilities to ensure a world-class experience for guests.
This role requires a strong background in general maintenance and specialised skills in painting and finishing.
The ideal candidate will uphold the standards of a luxury environment, ensuring that all guest and back-of-house areas are maintained in excellent condition, with an eye for detail, safety, and aesthetics.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance
Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry issues
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and departments, ensuring minimal disruption to guest experience
Monitor and maintain building systems and equipment according to brand and safety standards
Painting & Finishing
Prepare surfaces and apply paints, stains, varnishes, or other finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, and furniture
Conduct patching, drywall repair, caulking, and surface refinishing as needed
Maintain colour consistency and quality finishes in line with luxury brand aesthetics
Assist with touch-ups and periodic refreshes of high-traffic areas to maintain hotel presentation
Safety & Compliance
Follow all hotel safety protocols and IOSH regulations
Maintain a clean and organised work area, including proper storage of materials and tools
Ensure proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and safety procedures when handling chemicals or working at heights
Team & Communication
Work collaboratively with all departments to coordinate maintenance efforts
Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding work orders, supply needs, and progress
Provide support for special projects, room renovations, or seasonal tasks as needed

Experience
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years in general maintenance, with at least 1 year of professional painting experience (preferably in a hotel or high-end residential environment)
Proficient in painting techniques including brushing, rolling, and spraying
Basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC troubleshooting
Attention to detail and strong sense of aesthetics
Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and technical manuals
IOSH certification or trade licenses (preferred but not required)
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts as required
Eligibility to work in Ireland
