Job Title: Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant

Overview:
We are looking for experienced Senior and Principal Environmental Consultants to join our growing clients in Ireland. This role is ideally suited to professionals with a strong background in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and a deep understanding of the Irish planning system and environmental legislation. You’ll be working on some of Ireland’s most exciting and complex infrastructure, energy, and development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
For Both Roles:
* Lead and coordinate the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and related planning documents.
* Provide expert advice on Irish and EU environmental legislation, including the Planning and Development Act, SEA, EIA, and Habitats Directives.
* Manage interactions with statutory agencies, planning authorities, and clients.
* Support multi-disciplinary project teams through planning and development processes.
* Review and contribute to specialist technical reports (e.g., air, noise, water, ecology).
* Assist with stakeholder engagement and public consultation where required.
* Ensure quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery of project outputs.
Senior Environmental Consultant (3–5 years’ experience):
* Manage small to medium EIA projects from inception to submission.
* Coordinate technical inputs and support field data collection where relevant.
* Mentor junior staff and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing.
Principal Environmental Consultant (5–7+ years’ experience):
* Lead large, complex EIAs and multi-disciplinary planning projects.
* Provide strategic guidance on planning and environmental consenting.
* Represent the company at public hearings, oral hearings, and expert panels.
* Support business development, proposals, and client relationship management.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum BSc in Environmental Science, Planning, Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline. A relevant MSc or additional postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
* Senior: Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in environmental consultancy or planning.
* Principal: Minimum 5–7+ years of experience with a track record of successful EIA delivery.
* Proven experience in preparing EIARs and supporting documents for planning applications in Ireland.
* Deep understanding of the Irish planning system, environmental legislation, and regulatory environment.
* Strong technical writing skills and experience in compiling and reviewing environmental reports.
* Full clean Irish or EU driver’s licence.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA, RTPI, IEEM, Engineers Ireland) is desirable.
