Aughinish Alumina, situated on a 1,300-acre site on the Shannon Estuary, is one of the leading industrial plants in Ireland. It is the largest Alumina Refinery in Europe, producing approximately 2 million tonnes per annum of product that is the primary raw material for the production of aluminium. Working as part of a multidiscipline engineering team, this graduate position will provide you with the opportunity to work on a wide range of heavy industrial plant and equipment projects through our capital and maintenance programmes. You will also work in partnership with a number of Main Contracting companies ensuring that work is carried out to the highest standard.
Key job features include:
Working in our Engineering Department reporting to our plant Quantity Surveyor your roll will involve:
* Review budgets, advise on cost development and provide oversight on commercial management to successfully execute annual capital and maintenance programs
* Assist and advise on the preparation of Tender and Contract documents, including measuring projects and preparing of bills of quantities
* Assist in preparing pricing documents, procure quotations from specialist sub-contractors to assist with the delivery of projects
* Monitor costs, valuations, variations and overall commercial performance of onsite mechanical and scaffolding contractors
* Administer contractor orders, approve payments and report monthly on project costs
* Assist with the preparation of work schedules and contractor resource planning
* Attend project meetings, visit work sites and gather knowledge and understanding of the plants mechanical works to ensure cost certainty of projects
* Liaise daily with our contractors, and our plant personnel, before to ensure full understanding of projects to enable accurate and successful project implementation.
