We’re looking for an experienced Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and delivery of advanced manufacturing equipment within a regulated medical device environment.This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of automation systems from concept through to final handover, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the controls design and software development for new and existing manufacturing equipmentDevelop and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems in line with User Requirement Specifications (URS)Contribute to and oversee electrical and machine safety design (in line with EU Machinery Directive)Participate in and lead cross-functional design reviewsCollaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver innovative, cost-effective solutionsManage project timelines and ensure delivery milestones are metGenerate technical documentation in line with quality SOPs and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)Support equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvementContribute to quotations, concepts, and business cases for new or upgraded equipmentWork across multiple projects, balancing priorities in a fast-paced environmentRequired Experience & SkillsStrong experience in PLC Programming (Rockwell – RSLogix / Studio 5000)Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View)Knowledge of FactoryTalk HistorianExperience in PID control design and tuningUnderstanding of servo systems and motion control, including encoders and homingExposure to robotic automation (e.g. KUKA, Denso)Experience with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP commissioning & setup)Knowledge of machine electrical & safety design (EU Machinery Directive)Strong project management and multitasking skillsExperience in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. medical devices, pharma)Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilityStrong technical documentation and communication skillsQualificationsDegree in Engineering (Level 8 or higher on the NFQ framework)Minimum 6+ years’ experience in a similar Controls/Automation role
