The Killarney Plaza Hotel & Spa is recruiting a Sous Chef who will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen leadership team. This position requires a skilled and motivated culinary professional who is eager to contribute to the creation of high-quality dishes and the overall success of the kitchen. The Sous Chef will assist in daily operations, including food preparation, cooking on the grill and presentation, ensuring that all dishes meet the hotel\'s standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Preparation and Cooking
o Assist in the preparation and cooking of a wide variety of dishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
o Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and menu items.
o Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety at all times.
2. Kitchen Management
o Support the Executive Head Chef and Executive Sous Chef in managing the kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations.
o Oversee specific sections of the kitchen, ensuring that all team members are working efficiently and effectively.
o Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff.
3. Inventory and Stock Control
o Assist in managing inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation to minimize waste.
o Ensure that all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and available for use.
4. Quality Control
o Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
o Implement and maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
5. Collaboration and Communication
o Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure excellent service and customer satisfaction.
o Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to coordinate orders and manage workflow.
6. Innovation and Creativity
o Contribute ideas for improving food offerings and kitchen operations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in a busy kitchen environment.
