Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within UCD School of Civil Engineering. This project aims to advance the modelling, optimisation, and design of underground thermal energy storage systems for decarbonising district heating in Ireland, with a particular focus on aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES), borehole thermal energy storage (BTES), and fractured limestone conditions. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level 2 will play a leading technical role in developing and calibrating coupled thermal-hydraulic numerical models, integrating geological and hydrogeological data, and translating modelling outputs into practical design guidance.
