Role Purpose
For over 50 years, Cornmarket has looked after the needs of Public Sector employees, their families, and other affinity groups. This newly created role reflects Cornmarket’s ongoing growth. You will build and manage relationships with assigned key affinity partners and play a key role in driving partner development, contributing to new growth opportunities across the organisation.
The Client Services Division oversees engagement with senior decision makers amongst our union & affinity partners. The Team shares a collective objective of maintaining and enhancing Cornmarket’s position as the leading independent broker of financial services and products for Public Sector employees and their partners. The overall health and wellbeing of our partners and their members’ is something we take very seriously, and the Client Services Team apply a customer first approach in their design & deliver of solutions tailored to the specific needs of our partners and their members.
You’ll work across established and emerging client segments, build deep relationships with Public Sector and affinity partners, and help shape commercial outcomes that support Cornmarket’s long-term strategy. The role offers variety, visibility and real impact - combining renewal strategy, senior partner interactions and commercially focused insurer negotiations.
Accountabilities of the Role

Strategic Client & Partner Development.
Build deep, trusted relationships with key partners, ensuring strong service delivery and high levels of engagement.
Act as a dedicated point of contact and intermediary between our external partners and internal stakeholders by working collaboratively across the Cornmarket Group with Finance, Life Sales, Life Administration, Marketing, Health, GI and the wider Client Services Team.
Help shape Cornmarket’s growth agenda by generating opportunities with new partners and supporting strategic client-facing activities.
Represent Cornmarket in partner meetings, prospect discussions, insurer negotiations and renewal processes.
Act as the voice of partners within Cornmarket, advocating for their needs and ensuring smooth delivery across departments.
Support independent brokering activities, ensure competitiveness.
Maintain an awareness of changes in the life, pension, and general insurance sectors to support decision-making and partner conversations.
Lead on new business opportunities and marketing initiatives.
Develop a deep understanding of each client’s culture, needs, and expectations to ensure the delivery of exceptional service.
Manage queries from partners dealing with them quickly and concisely, set clear expectations, oversee SLAs, and act as an escalation point for complex or sensitive issues.
Manage communication, reporting and the collation of information for service reviews and scheme updates, demonstrating Cornmarket’s value and impact.
Foster strong insurer relationships, influencing and de-escalating where required to drive quick, decisive, client‑focused resolutions.
Partner with the Wellbeing and Propositions teams to optimise and differentiate our offering — including bespoke products, wellbeing initiatives, and member value programmes.
Collaborate with the Scheme Review and Client Services teams to support strategic projects, scheme transitions, and onboarding of new partners.
Facilitate and participate in committee meetings, HQ events, conferences and seminars, representing Cornmarket professionally and confidently.
Engage with senior external stakeholders, presenting insights, reports and recommendations that support data-driven decision-making.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Ideally a third‑level qualification in any discipline.
QFA or APA qualification.
Experience managing and developing key client relationships (desirable).
Proven ability to build strong relationships with new clients.
Experience identifying client needs and taking initiative to exceed expectations.
Understanding of the needs and challenges of trade unions and public sector employers.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the life, pension, and general insurance industry.
Strong understanding of the public sector market.
Ability to meet challenging deadlines and targets.
Strong self‑motivation, personal drive, energy, and persistence.
High accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, problem‑solve, and lead issues through to resolution.
Excellent stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of Cornmarket products and services and awareness of wider business needs.
Strong presentation skills with experience engaging senior external stakeholders.
