We’re looking for a senior qualified Actuary with strong reserving experience, ideally with knowledge of property, to take on a Head of Short Tail Reserving role within a global leading international commercial insurer. This high-impact leadership role oversees a large international portfolio across Property, Construction, Climate, and Specialty lines.
Reporting into the Head of International Reserving, you will lead a Dublin-based team and work closely with global stakeholders across underwriting, finance, and actuarial teams.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering accurate and insightful reserving analysis across a complex international portfolio, ensuring robust methodologies, clear communication of results, and strong alignment with business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead reserving and valuation analysis, including quarterly reporting and biannual deep dives
Own and review reserving methodologies, assumptions, and key judgments
Provide clear insights into reserve movements, trends, and emerging risks
Partner with underwriting and finance to support business planning and strategic decisions
Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including challenging where appropriate
Lead and develop a team of actuaries while driving continuous improvement
Requirements
Qualified actuary with strong non-life reserving experience (min 5+ years)
Background in Commercial Lines, ideally with exposure to Property, Construction, or Climate risks
Experience working with international portfolios
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage complex portfolios and operate in a global environmentConfident influencing and challenging senior stakeholders
Experience with reserving tools (e.g., ResQ) and advanced Excel skills preferred
Right to work in Dublin and fluency in English is mandatory
