Health and Safety Manager Role
The primary objective of this role is to ensure the exceptional health and safety standards at Harvey's Point Hotel. This includes ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
As Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for providing on-site leadership in health and safety matters, aligned with internal systems and external support partners. You will collaborate with external auditors to continuously improve health and safety practices and compliance.
You will work closely with the Executive Head Chef to support food safety and hygiene through the HACCP framework. Additionally, you will engage with our H&S consultant to manage the Risk Awareness System, ongoing Safety Checks, and internal inspection routines.
Key responsibilities include conducting regular risk assessments, site inspections, and internal audits. You will investigate incidents and near misses; document and implement corrective actions. Furthermore, you will maintain and update all safety documentation, training records, and statutory compliance files.
You will deliver or coordinate training for staff on safety awareness and emergency procedures. Fostering a strong health and safety culture across all departments is also crucial. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and relevant industry developments is essential.
Overseeing the hotel's fire safety compliance and procedures is another key aspect of this role. Coordinating staff training requirements with the HR department is also required. Organising and delivering essential safety training, such as Manual Handling (Train-the-Trainer qualification preferred), is an important part of this position.
Candidate Requirements
* A relevant Health & Safety qualification or degree is essential.
* Experience in implementing and maintaining Health & Safety Management Systems is necessary.
* A strong understanding of current health & safety legislation and industry best practices is required.
* A minimum of 2 years in a health & safety role, preferably in a hospitality or service-oriented environment, is desirable.
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to change is essential.
* Excellent organisational, time-management, and communication skills are required.
* Proficiency in MS Office 365; experience with digital H&S systems is a plus.
* Fluent written and spoken English is necessary.
