These conditions can lead to heart attack, stroke, and other life‑threatening complications, making the work we do both meaningful and impactful.At Abbott Clonmel, you'll be part of a high‑performing manufacturing site where quality, innovation, and collaboration are at the core of everything we do.The RoleAs an Equipment Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring production equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will use your technical expertise to diagnose, repair, maintain, and improve equipment that directly supports the manufacture of life‑changing medical devices.This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled individual who enjoys problem‑solving, hands‑on work, and collaborating with cross‑functional engineering and manufacturing teams.Key ResponsibilitiesRespond promptly to manufacturing equipment issues, diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs to minimise downtime.Perform preventative maintenance and equipment upgrades, ensuring all work is accurately documented within the AMIGO asset management system.Maintain backup equipment and manage spare parts to ensure production continuity.Support industrial, manufacturing, and quality engineers in the operation and optimisation of manufacturing equipment.Provide feedback to equipment development engineers, contributing ideas to improve equipment reliability and uptime.Assist with the setup of manufacturing assembly lines, including worktable construction and utility connections.Modify existing assembly lines or workstations to support changing production demands.Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Abbott's corporate, divisional, and site procedures, as well as safety and quality standards.Education & ExperienceNFQ Level 6 qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline, plus 2+ years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or quality‑driven environment is an advantage.Skills & CompetenciesStrong understanding of general technical concepts, equipment fundamentals, and manufacturing systems.Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematic drawings, and use precision tools and test equipment.Comfortable working with numerical, statistical data and computer software to solve non‑routine, moderately complex technical issues.Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to suggest improvements to existing processes.Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise daily work to meet production schedules.Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within cross‑functional teams.High attention to detail and commitment to compliance, confidentiality, and quality standards.Hours of WorkFri Sat & Sunday night approx. midday until 1-2amThe Weekend Shift hours are:Friday : 12:25pm – 01:25amSaturday : 13:10pm – 02:10amSunday : 13:50pm – 02:50am Why Join Abbott?Be part of a global healthcare leader making a real difference to patients' lives.Work in a collaborative, safety‑focused, and innovation‑driven environment.Opportunities for technical development, learning, and career progression.Competitive rewards and benefits in a company recognised for its culture and values.Abbott Ireland is an Equal Opportunities Employer.All roles are carried out in accordance with the site Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work requirements.The base pay for this position is N/A/hourIn specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.JOB FAMILY:Facilities & MaintenanceDIVISION:AVD VascularLOCATION:Ireland > Clonmel : Cashel RoadADDITIONAL LOCATIONS:WORK SHIFT:Ie - 2Cycleb (Ireland)TRAVEL:NoMEDICAL SURVEILLANCE:YesSIGNIFICANT WORK ACTIVITIES:Not Applicable
