Job Responsibilities
Manage full project lifecycle including specification, costing, design, review, release and production support. As the design engineer, provide assistance and leadership to other engineers as required. The position should lead by example to other engineers and wider factory team members, setting a high standard in work quality, presentation and accuracy.
Design sheet metal parts, assemblies and drawings using CREO parametric with model based definition and advanced CREO viewer assemblies. Actively engage with the CREO eLearning facility and maintain up to date knowledge on use of CREO.
Manage design release process ensuring the product is fully defined and checked including accurate bill of materials prior to production release. Design specification will also involve specifying parts/material from suppliers relaying relevant supplier information to Purchasing department.
Project management of designs through to production and follow up support as required. Prototype builds are managed by engineering through the production process. Provide full assembly documentation to production following prototype build including assembly instructions and complete set of design files.
Maintain a high level of communication and customer service with key accounts. The design engineer should maintain a professional relationship with the customer and attend meetings at the customer site/office as required.
Have a focus on product quality, ensure products are built as per specification by the customer and internal Aubren and Akrivis standard policies.
Demonstrate essential teamwork behaviours to ensure multifunctional design teams are effective and successful. Track assigned projects and report progress to engineering manager as required. Participate in design review meetings including the customer and internal teams.
Interact with the sales team as required, assist with the creation of technical documentation required to support the sales goals. Provide costing to sales team as required. Utilise department structures for providing this costing and operate in a traceable and accurate way.
Participate in lean principles within the engineering department as required. Support Engineering Dept KPIs such as BOM Accuracy, Quote/Cost accuracy, On-Time Design Release, etc. Be a role model for the company culture and safety procedures.
