Our Purpose
At our Research & Development Department in Galway, Ireland, we focus on developing cutting-edge medical devices in the Coronary, Structural Heart, PVH, Cardiac Rhythm Management, and Neuromodulation space. Our Engineers are involved in developing innovative products for medical procedures.
This Senior R&D Manager role will oversee a large engineering organization, focusing on Interventional Pain therapy, collaborating with cross-functional partners on strategy and product pipeline development.
Medtronic pioneered neuromodulation with the first spinal cord stimulator (SCS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS) system. We continue to innovate, challenging ourselves to disrupt markets and advance science with groundbreaking therapies and technologies.

A Day in The Life Of:
* Lead and motivate a talented engineering team designing pioneering transcatheter medical devices.
* Participate in organizational development and scaling to meet business demands.
* Collaborate with experts to maintain clinical and technical expertise and contribute to strategic planning.
* Build cross-site relationships within a large organization.
* Support project objectives and milestones, managing complex outcomes.
* Make project decisions using expertise and judgment.
* Manage high-level engineers and managers involved in product development.
* Mentor and coach team members, supporting career development.

Key Skills & Experience
* Degree in Engineering or related field, with Masters or PhD preferred; 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
* 3-5 years of direct managerial experience with demonstrated progression.
* Excellent team building, communication, and management skills.
* Proactive team player and mentor, effective in a global environment.
* Experience in the medical device market with a proven track record.
* Experience in orthopedics or spine product development is preferred.
