Founding AI Software Engineer | Fully Remote | US & Ireland based Start-Up | Up to 150k + Equity We're partnering with a VC-backed AI-native startup building something genuinely ambitious. They're developing an AI-native execution platform designed to automate complex operational and risk workflows inside regulated environments. This isn't \"AI bolted onto legacy software\". The focus here is on building production-grade AI systems that enterprises can actually trust: reliable orchestration traceability auditability security deterministic workflows enterprise integrations They already have paying customers, an MVP in market, and strong early traction. For the next 6-12 months, this is very much a company in execution mode - building, refining and shipping for live enterprise users. The Opportunity You'll join a small, high-calibre team working directly with the founders as one of the earliest engineering hires. This is not a frontend-heavy product engineering role. They're looking for someone who can think deeply about systems, infrastructure, architecture and reliability within AI-native environments. You'll: Help evolve and reshape the current platform architecture Build and operate production-grade backend and AI systems Work across orchestration, integrations, infrastructure and platform reliability Design scalable and maintainable systems in high-ambiguity environments Contribute to technical direction and long-term platform strategy Work closely with founders, customers and technical stakeholders The current stack includes: TypeScript React Node Postgres Supabase Vercel Anthropic APIs LangGraph exploration That said, they expect this hire to challenge and improve the existing architecture where appropriate. The Environment Fully remote. High autonomy. High trust. High standards. This is a focused execution phase with real customers, real enterprise requirements and meaningful delivery milestones ahead. The team is small, technical and moving quickly. You'll have genuine ownership and direct influence over how the platform evolves. This is not the type of role where you disappear into a Jira board for 12 months. Equally, this is not an \"AI hype\" environment built around demos and prototypes. The engineering challenges here are real: reliability observability orchestration scalability enterprise trust production operations What They're Looking For 6-10+ years engineering experience Strong backend or systems engineering capability Experience building and operating production systems at scale Experience working in high-ambiguity or startup environments Strong architectural and infrastructure thinking Experience with AI/LLM systems beyond basic API integrations Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience in enterprise, cloud-native or regulated environments is highly valuable Strong fit backgrounds could include: AI infrastructure distributed systems platform engineering observability/reliability engineering enterprise SaaS cloud systems backend architecture AI orchestration systems Mindset matters massively: ownership technical curiosity pragmatism communication execution Package Up to €150,000 base Meaningful equity Fully remote Founding-level ownership Opportunity to shape engineering culture and technical direction from an early stage This is for builders who want to work on hard technical problems with real-world impact. If you're currently in a larger organisation and feel too far from the product If you've worked on AI systems but want more ownership and influence If you enjoy solving infrastructure and architecture challenges rather than simply shipping UI tickets If you want to help build a category-defining platform from an early stage Then this is probably worth a conversation.
