Excel Healthcare are recruiting a Senior Dietitian to join a Children's Disability Network Team in Athlone. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work with children (0-18 years) with complex needs arising from disability, while collaborating closely with families and colleagues.
Job Purpose:
The Senior Dietitian will be responsible for providing a specialist nutrition and dietetic service to children and young people with a range of disabilities. This includes supporting feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing (FEDS) needs, ensuring nutritional well-being, and empowering families through education and guidance.
You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers, delivering a holistic service that promotes children's development, health, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide specialist assessment, intervention, and advice to children and young people (0-18 years) with complex needs, including FEDS.
2. Develop individualised nutrition care plans in partnership with families and caregivers.
3. Support children with growth, development, and complex feeding difficulties, ensuring evidence-based dietetic care.
4. Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, contributing to joint goal-setting and integrated care planning.
5. Deliver education and training to families, carers, schools, and community partners.
6. Provide supervision, support, and guidance to junior colleagues and students as required.
7. Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
8. Maintain up to date knowledge of paediatric dietetics and engage in ongoing CPD
Requirements:
9. BSc/MSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
10. CORU Registration as a Dietitian (essential)
11. Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 1 year working with children or young people.
12. Experience in paediatric nutrition and FEDS management within a disability or healthcare setting.
13. Excellent communication, teamwork, and family-centred practice skills.
14. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
15. Full clean driving licence and access to own transport.
