Job Description
B & M O'Brien Brothers Limited located at Lehina, Lislevane, Bandon, Co. Cork is currently looking for 2 Steel Fixers who will be responsible for preparing, positioning, and securing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and steel mesh used in concrete structures. The role involves reading construction drawings, measuring and cutting steel bars, bending reinforcement to specifications, and tying or welding reinforcement cages for foundations, walls, columns, beams, bridges, and other construction projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel reinforcement bars and mesh.
Install and secure reinforcement in concrete forms using appropriate tools and techniques.
Tie reinforcing bars using wire, clips, or mechanical fixing systems.
Position and fix steel cages for foundations, columns, beams, walls, and slabs.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and steel-bending machinery safely.
Inspect reinforcement work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
Work closely with site supervisors, engineers, and other construction workers.
Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations on construction sites.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Skills and Experience Required:
Proven experience as a Steel Fixer in commercial, residential, or civil construction projects.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and reinforcement schedules.
Knowledge of concrete reinforcement methods and construction practices.
Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
Experience using steel-cutting, bending, and fixing equipment.

Yearly Remuneration: €36,605.00 p/a
Hours: 39 p/w
