Job Role: Quality Assurance Specialist
About the Position:
The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring food safety, quality, and compliance of finished products within a manufacturing environment. They will act as a crucial link in maintaining product specifications and customer satisfaction while contributing to continuous improvement and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure that the food safety and quality of all finished products produced is maintained, adhering to HACCP protocols and procedures.
* Address non-conformances, coordinate with suppliers, and actively participate in audits.
* Training and competency checks for personnel, handling non-conformances, and supporting health and safety initiatives are integral aspects of this role.
* Ensure that food safety and quality of finished products meet agreed-upon product specifications.
* Responsibility for ensuring accurate record-keeping on shift.
* Ensure plant hygiene meets and exceeds Department of Agriculture, BRC, and customer requirements.
* Perform visual checks, ATP swabbing, and micro swabbing to guarantee correct cleaning standards after scheduled cleanings.
Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent in Food Science / Science / Quality / Nutritional disciplines.
* HACCP training (desired).
* 1+ years' experience in Technical / Quality Assurance / Manufacturing / Laboratory roles, preferably in dairy but also considering food or beverage.
* Working knowledge of BRC (or equivalent) and retail standards in production facilities is desirable.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Flexible and committed attitude with initiative-taking abilities.
* Capacity to work individually and integrate well with operations teams.
* Proficiency in Word, Excel, and database management.
* Flexibility to work on rotating shifts over both day and night schedules.
