The Electrical Project Engineer is a key role within the Irish business, working within the Engineering Department to manage and deliver projects. The position requires a broad knowledge of, and experience in the range of technical roles and responsibilities carried out by this department. The individual will be involved in multi-faceted projects involving change management, building compliance, electrical design, space management and advising on more efficient energy management.About the RoleLocation: Dublin, Ireland Office basedReports to: Senior Electrical EngineerKey relationships: Head of Engineering, Engineering Department, CAD Department.Role OverviewThe Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, specification, and coordination of electrical building services or industrial systems in compliance with Irish and EU standards. The role supports projects across sectors such as commercial buildings, data centres, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, renewable energy, and industrial facilities. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant electrical designs from concept through construction and commissioning.ResponsibilitiesProduce electrical designs including LV/MV power distribution, lighting, small power, earthing & bonding, emergency lighting, lightning protection, and fire alarm interfacesDevelop concept, detailed, and construction-stage designsPrepare single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, cable schedules, load calculations, and protection studiesSpecify electrical equipment and systems suitable for customer sites and grid connectionsSupport projects through all lifecycle stages: concept, planning, detailed design, tender, construction, and commissioningAttend design team meetings, technical workshops, and site inspectionsReview contractor submittals, technical queries, and value engineering proposalsSupport testing, commissioning, and handover activitiesEnsure compliance with Irish Building Regulations (Part B, L, M), Health & Safety legislationClient ESG and sustainability requirementsProduce design risk assessments and input into Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) RegulationsLiaise with Safe Electric, ESB Networks, and inspecting authorities as requiredCoordinate designs with mechanical, architectural, civil, and process disciplinesInterface with customers, utilities, contractors, and suppliersProvide technical input during tenders and procurementQualificationsDegree or Level 7/8 qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent2–8+ years’ experience in electrical designStrong understanding of Irish electrical standards and regulationsExperience working on projects in Ireland or the EUProficiency in design software such as: AutoCAD / Revit (BIM)Electrical design calculation tools (e.g. Trimble, Electrical OM, ETAP, Dialux)Experience in one or more sectors: Data centres, Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences, Commercial developments, Renewable energy or industrial plantsWorking towards or holding Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with Engineers IrelandSite experience including commissioning and snag resolutionRequired SkillsStrong technical and analytical skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesClear written and verbal communicationCustomer-focused approachCollaborative team playerHigh standard of technical documentationPreferred SkillsEligible to work in IrelandFull clean driving licenseWillingness to attend client and site locations as requiredCustomer Focus: Ability to work with others within multi-disciplined teams and to develop and sustain good working relationships with our customers and our sub-contractors and promote the Company at all times.Impact & Influence: Influences other functions within the organisation to gain their backing and impact on decision making.Team Working: Supports own and cross functional teams, giving positive feedback and collaborating where appropriate.Analytical Thinking: Critically evaluates data and facts cross functionally to assess risk and make recommendations for improvement.Attention to Detail: Continuously strives to improve the quality and professionalism of own and colleagues’ work.Planning & Delivery: Proactively organises and plans ahead, assessing long term requirements and potential future workload to ensure efficient, timely delivery.
