The Senior BMS Engineer is a technically focused role responsible for the delivery, commissioning, and support of Building Management System (BMS) solutions across a portfolio of client sites.
The role is hands-on, with responsibility for complex fault-finding, software development, commissioning, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Accountabilities: Technical Delivery Carry out commissioning, software development, testing, and handover of BMS installations and upgrades.
Perform advanced fault-finding and diagnostics across BMS panels, field devices, and networks.
Deliver planned maintenance, reactive works, and system upgrades in line with client contracts.
Support the integration of third-party systems using common protocols (e.g. BACnet, Modbus).
Ensure systems operate in accordance with design intent, specifications, and applicable standards.
Project Support Support BMS project delivery from design through to commissioning and handover.
Review drawings, specifications, and control strategies, providing technical input where required.
Assist Project Managers and the BMS Manager with technical queries during project execution.
Contribute to site surveys and assist with technical scoping where needed.
Mentoring Technical Standards Provide technical guidance and on-the-job mentoring to junior and mid-level BMS engineers.
Promote internal best practices for commissioning, documentation, and quality control.
Identify technical issues or risks on sites and escalate where appropriate.
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards.
Documentation Compliance Complete commissioning records, test sheets, and handover documentation to an auditable standard.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and Health Safety legislation.
Maintain accurate records of works completed, changes made, and issues identified.
Client Interaction Liaise professionally with clients, site teams, and subcontractors during works.
Provide clear technical explanations and recommendations when dealing with client queries.
Support long-term client relationships through consistent, high-quality delivery.
Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge: Essential: Minimum 5 years' experience working in BMS engineering roles.
Advanced experience on at least one major BMS platform (Tridium or Cylon).
Practical experience in commissioning, fault-finding, and supporting live BMS systems.
Exposure to HVAC plant and systems within commercial or industrial buildings.
Good working knowledge of common BMS protocols (e.g. BACnet, Modbus).
Full clean driving licence.
Desirable: Trade qualification or third-level qualification in Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Basic AutoCAD literacy and ability to interpret technical drawings.
Experience working within Facilities Management or live operational environments.
Additional manufacturer training or certifications.
