Job Description- Mechanical Plant Fitter
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Plant Fitter to join a dedicated team based in Tullamore, with responsibilities extending across the Eastern Region. The role involves maintenance and repair of mobile and fixed plant, welding duties, and support for daily operational requirements in a hands-on environment. This is a field-based role that requires flexibility, teamwork, and a proactive approach to maintenance and safety.
Job Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance and fitting tasks on plant equipment such as excavators, tractors, boats, and cutting machinery
* Perform welding and fabrication work as required
* Keep accurate maintenance records and logbooks
* Work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors
* Procure mechanical parts and supplies as per procurement policy
* Support fleet and plant maintenance systems by recording and responding to tasks
* Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety procedures
* Assist in operating depots and sites throughout the region
* Follow work instructions and contribute to an efficient maintenance process
* Participate in mandatory training and promote equality policies
Job Requirements
* Advanced Certificate (FETAC Level 6) in Construction Plant Fitting or equivalent
* Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience in a fitter role
* Full, clean driving licence
* Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
* Experience with arc, MIG, or TIG welding
* Familiarity with interpreting engineering and circuit drawings
* Good knowledge of health and safety in construction environments
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Experience with water-based plant maintenance is desirable
* Competence in low-voltage electrical or instrumentation systems is an advantage
