Manufacturing Engineer - Waterford Opportunity to work with a growing medical device and life science manufacturer currently recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer for their expanding Waterford-based operation. With a headcount in the hundreds and a multimillion-euro turnover, they partner with many of the world's top medical technology brands. This company is known for delivering innovative design and precision manufacturing solutions across a wide range of sectors including surgical, orthopaedics, cardiovascular, and life sciences. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their talented team at their high-performing facility in Waterford. Role: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful Manufacturing Engineer will play a critical role in supporting production, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the efficient manufacture of high-quality medical products. Key responsibilities include: Support the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and compliance. Lead and contribute to the successful introduction of new products (NPI) into production. Create and update standard operating procedures, process flow maps, and work instructions. Identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485). Design, develop, and implement jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve production flow and quality outcomes. Lead or participate in problem-solving teams (e.g., CAPA, 8D, FMEA). Person: We are seeking a practical, solutions-focused engineer who can work collaboratively and independently. Ideal candidates will possess: A third-level qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical or similar). 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing engineering role, ideally in a regulated environment (medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, precision engineering). A working knowledge of ISO 13485 or a similar quality system. Experience in process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise across all business levels. Proficiency in CAD and MS Office, with ERP experience a distinct advantage.
