Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

This role involves managing the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a safe work environment, compliant with all applicable regulations and company policies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site operations, conducting risk assessments, supporting EHS management, providing direction to site management, and implementing corporate safety systems.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Conduct JSAs, risk assessments and assist in machine safety assessments across all site operations.
2. Support the team in EHS management and execution of new projects and programs.
3. Provide direction and advice to site management in the area of national and EU safety legislation, relevant machinery safety standards and best available techniques.
4. Provide technical safety input into the design and construction of new facilities, automation lines and process equipment.
5. Design and implement corporate safety systems with specific emphasis on process safety management, process hazards analysis, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, accident and injury reporting, and change control.
6. Develop and implement site occupational health programs.
7. Lead and where required support the investigation of EHS incidents/accidents, recommend and drive corrective and preventive actions.
8. Participate in the development and implementation of site security protocols and procedures.
9. Participate in pre-start-up safety reviews, internal and external auditing, site safety inspections and walkdowns.
10. Assist the team with the development, documentation and implementation of safe systems of work for manufacturing and maintenance operations.
11. Support the development and implementation of key EHS programs in line with legislation/best practice and deliver appropriate EHS training to personnel on site.
12. Promote and support positive and proactive safety culture through engagement with employees and relevant stakeholders.
13. Achieve a series of effective EHS KPI's for the site and maintain compliance.
14. Participate and support emergency response and business continuity planning.
15. Support company quality programs and initiatives.
