Overview AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC).
We seek experienced systems engineers with a strong background in cloud operations to join the AWS Managed Operations team and help deliver high-availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers.

Responsibilities Oversee the launch of the ESC in 2025, working closely with global AWS teams, and influence the evolution of AWS services and technology.
Build and lead operations and development teams dedicated to delivering scalable, high-availability services and improving availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.
Collaborate with technology leaders, contribute to day-to-day operations, and drive improvements in ESC operations.
Occasionally participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents outside of regular hours.
Eligibility & Basic Qualifications Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
Candidate must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU to operate the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
Bachelor's degree in computer science (or related IT discipline) or equivalent industry experience.
Knowledge or experience in scripting (Bash, Python, or Ruby) or software development (Java, Type Script, or similar), coupled with Linux and networking fundamentals to effectively troubleshoot and optimize system performance and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications Able to execute standard operating procedures and follow operational best practices.
Knowledge or experience operating services in AWS or other cloud systems or services.
Knowledge or experience operating 24x7 high-availability, distributed software applications, performance tuning, and monitoring frameworks (e.g., Cloud Watch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar).
Knowledge or experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Cloud Formation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar).
