A Little More About Your Role…
The Ireland Roads team is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer with extensive postgraduate experience in the drainage design for the highways and active travel schemes and also for other major civil engineering infrastructures. The team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking flood risk assessments and drainage designs for the concept, preliminary and detailed design stages of the major national roads, motorways and active travel schemes including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Road Improvement Scheme, public transport schemes and active travel schemes for the National Transport Authority and Local Authorities.
The right candidate shall be able to take on significant elements of design working on their own initiative with some support from the senior specialist in the relevant field. The successful candidate shall be able to obtain and analyse information, report on findings through effective communication of project proposals, assessments and intended outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality engineering services for our clients.
* Provide technical input to our cross sector multidisciplinary internal project teams supporting the delivery of transportation, commercial/residential development and environmental infrastructure projects.
* Prepare technical reports and effectively communicate outputs to our clients.
* Further develop and broaden the technical capacity of the flooding and drainage team.
* Technical input and design on roads, public transport and active travel projects, including:
* Undertaking road drainage systems and flood risk management measures designs using the relevant industry standard software.
* Application of the Transport Infrastructure Ireland, National Transport Authority and other relevant standards
* Developing and delivering design solutions including applications for Departures and Relaxations from Standards, etc, and ensuring all requisite approvals and consents are secured for projects.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and collaboratively.
* Excellent technical reporting writing and review skills.
* Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and inhouse quality assurance standards/processes
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in civil engineering or another appropriate subject and be a member of an appropriate professional institution.
The successful candidate will be capable of working to tight project deadlines, work comfortably under pressure and have an open and honest approach. Evidence of good communication and team working skills will be sought.
Required and desired qualifications, experience and knowledge also include:-
* A degree in Civil Engineering or another appropriate subject. A post graduate Level 9 Masters would be advantageous.
* Incorporated or Chartered Status (AMIEI/MIEI or equivalent) or equivalent demonstrable experience.
* Experience in undertaking flood risk assessments and detailed design & delivery of the surface water drainage systems and flood risk management measures for the major national road development projects and other major civil engineering infrastructures.
* Have excellent working knowledge and understanding of drainage principles, SuDs, flood hydrology and hydraulic processes.
* Have clear understanding and knowledge on the relevant standards and guidelines for the highway drainage systems designs and flood risk assessments methodology.
* Have significant experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and ArcGIS software.
* Have significant experience with the drainage design and flood modelling software like, Microdrainge, Causeway Flow, InfoWorks ICM, FloodModeller, TuFlow, HEC-RAS (1d/2d) and HEC-HMS.
* Good written and oral communication skills are essential.
* Be able to demonstrate clear and successful liaison and co-ordination on multi-discipline projects.
* Proven track record of dealing with clients and project stakeholders and forging effective relationships in a professional and customer focused manner.
* Candidates should have a proven ability to deliver project and tasks to a high quality, on time and within budget.
* Full, clean driver's license.
