Job Purpose
\
The Future Power Markets Team is responsible for leading market changes needed to achieve renewable energy targets and delivering major programs to implement regulatory approvals. Key projects include:
\
• Developing new arrangements to procure innovative system services for high levels of low-carbon technologies and supporting renewable targets.
\
• Designing changes to core market and operational systems to treat non-priority dispatch renewables, improve wind dispatch, and update scheduling and dispatch to incorporate energy storage, low-carbon inertia, and provision of reserves and services from new technologies.
\
• Re-integrating the all-island market with the EU post-Brexit through the Celtic Interconnector, offering a unique opportunity to work with world-leading experts on the transition to a secure, low-carbon energy future.

Key Responsibilities
\
Lead on central & market arrangements and readiness workstreams within various programs to ensure effective design and implementation within timelines. Plan and coordinate tasks and projects for junior team members; coordinate with senior team members; review work and support training as necessary. Collaborate with other workstream leads to ensure a coordinated approach to delivering future power markets initiatives. Engage with regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders; participate in workshops and meetings; prepare papers/submissions for regulators. Manage and coordinate external consultants. Provide expertise on SEM market arrangements; apply knowledge of SEM, trading, and settlement code, grid code, and balancing market principles to progress code modifications and implement solutions. Provide thought leadership and advocate best practices and industry principles. Work with other chief offices to progress initiatives within defined timelines. Maintain knowledge of SEM, EU legislation, and regulatory requirements, with awareness of emerging trends. Demonstrate behaviors that support our culture and values. Represent Ireland's interests on EU electricity coordination groups. Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Carry out other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
\
A third-level degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years in power systems and electricity markets. Expert knowledge of SEM market arrangements, trading, and settlement code/grid code. Knowledge of SEM processes including generation, interconnection, and grid technologies. Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills. Project management proficiency. Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical and market concepts. Experience in writing and presenting technical reports. Strong organizational and commercial awareness with a track record of delivering improvements and change, including automation of routine tasks. Experience building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Flexibility to manage a wide range of issues. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Desirable understanding of control centre operations up to settlement. Familiarity with grid operations tools such as market management system, dispatch logger, and energy management system. Understanding of other electricity markets and system services.
