And, we have fun along the way.Our access to capital and real estate is important but our most valuable asset is our team, and we are delighted now to be recruiting for a Construction Director.The roleReporting to the Chief Development Officer, we are looking for an ambitious individual to deliver our construction projects across Europe.You will own the overall delivery responsibility for Apto Capital Projects including data centre projects and high voltage substations. This will include ownership of the project scope, EHS, quality, timeline and budget.You will manage general contractors, utility companies, joint venture partners, design consultants and equipment vendors to deliver efficient and high quality project turn-overs.You will assist with defining construction strategy in all metros including suitable delivery partners.You will assist the Commercial Team to develop construction scope of works and request for proposal in accordance with local legislation.You will assist with tender negotiations with general contractors and equipment vendors and evaluate bids with detail and accuracy.You will complete constructability reviews of civil, structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical designs associated with construction of new data centre facilities.You will have the ability to manage general contractor and equipment vendor construction contracts and customer lease agreementsincluding budgets, change orders, purchase order, invoicing and financial capital requests.You will hire and manage local construction teams per metro capable of delivering best in class data centre facilities.You will play an active part interfacing with our customers to deliver upon customer lease obligations.Basic QualificationsDegree in construction management, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering OR ten years equivalent experience.15+ years relevant preconstruction or construction experience with industrial or commercial construction projects.Demonstrate ability to manage General Contractors and Vendors through full project life cycle.Demonstrated ability to lead €50m+ contracts including management of tenders, variations, final accounts, etc.Demonstrated ability to mitigate risks on large construction projects.Ability to deliver projects using Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.Preferred Qualifications10+ years of construction experience in the European data centre industry.Experience of working with large data centre providers across Europe.Experience creating and managing project schedules, quality plans and budgets.Experience with value engineering at preconstruction and construction stage.Experience hiring and developing site based roles across design, construction, EHS, cost control and commissioning.Proven track record in creating high quality consistent documentation for processes, standards and procedures.Experience managing construction teams on large industrial projects.LocationDublin. 40% travel across Europe.ReportingRoger Gough -CDO at Apto.Apto is an equal opportunities employer.Contact Apto todayIf you are interested, please apply here on Breathe.
