OverviewWe are looking for a talented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing construction team to be based at our EMEA office located Dublin, Ireland.We are looking to appoint a construction industry professional with expert knowledge on construction costs and contracts. In this role you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects and ensure that construction projects are completed within its projected budget. The Quantity Surveyor assists with the valuation of construction works, bidding and project budgeting, and the submission of bills to the client, in addition to estimating services to projects and business development efforts.
ResponsibilitiesPrepares services estimates for projects as required to support achievement of corporate objectivesPrepares constructed cost estimates for projects as required to support achievement of corporate objectivesSupports the design, implementation and maintenance of estimating programs and systems for the corporationWorks with Project Executives and Project Managers to coordinate acquisition of input information for the estimating process for projectsPrepares project estimates using drawings, specifications, scope, basis of design and other project information as inputMaintains files of project estimates and supporting backup documentation for reference during project executionSupports the evaluation of historical data, including purchase orders, subcontracts, force reports and productivity reports and incorporate relevant data into company unit cost, material and labor factorsMonitors subcontract and purchase order awards, compares awarded costs to budgeted costs, determines the bases for variances and adjusts estimating systems, models and unit pricing to adjust future estimatesReviews design options and recommends best solutions based on cost, engineering quality or availability of materialsMaintains relationships in the industry to facilitate the acquisition of estimating data and processesPrepares estimates to support the change management process for projectsWorks with Project Executives and Project Managers to monitor project implementation for compliance with the basis of the project estimate as requiredEvaluates required estimate contents by reviewing requests for proposal, attending pre-bid meetings and communicating with proposal team to support preparation of bids and proposals during bid/proposal preparation phaseSpecial projects as assigned
Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline or an equivalent technical degreeSignificant experience in Project Delivery, including Estimating and Cost3-6+ years relevant industry experienceExposure to MEP and Cost Estimating systems a distinct advantage
SkillsWritten and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports in order to convey complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of peopleStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop relationshipsNumerical and data analysis skillsA creative and innovative approach to problem solvingIT skills and the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packagesTeam work skills and the ability to motivate and lead those on siteProject management skillsResilience, determination and the ability to work well under pressureGood commercial awarenessA practical, logical and methodical approach to workAttention to detailDetailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters
