Overview

KERRY PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION is a voluntary organisation committed to the delivery of life enhancing services and supports, responding to needs, wishes, and choices of people with an intellectual disability, connected to support networks in their communities. In our work with people and families, we endeavour to deliver our supports in a person and family centred way. All those who work for and on behalf of the Association, and those who use our services, have a right to be treated with dignity, courtesy and respect at all times. As a Section 39 organisation, KPFA operates its own pay scales. Annual increments are awarded up to the maximum point of the relevant scale.

Applications are invited for the following position.

Post: Centre Manager/ Person in Charge - Tralee Day Services

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (39 hours per week)

Location: Tralee, Co Kerry.

Roster: Mon - 08:30 - 17:00 / Tues to Fri - 08:45 - 17:00

Rosters: Rosters may be subject to change due to the operational requirements of the service.


Responsibilities

* Work to lead, manage and develop high quality day services focusing on capacity building, training and employment options in line with the Association\'s values and standards.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure services and supports respond to the needs of the people using the services and their families.
* Manage and develop high quality day services focusing on the principles of Person Centred Supports, Social Inclusion, Advocacy and Rights.
* Implement the HSE New Directions Policy across the Tralee day services through development of new opportunities as part of a change management plan.
* Deliver assessed support needs for all people accessing the Tralee Day Services.
* Ensure staffing needs are met within budget.
* Lead recruitment and interview procedures of new employees.
* Lead and support staff teams including supervision, rotas, team meetings, debriefing, and training.
* Ensure ongoing training and development of all staff in the day service; be willing to provide training where suitable and relevant.
* Liaise with management and staff to foster a consistent standard across all Tralee day service locations.
* Ensure appropriate liaison between people supported, their network of support, family members and other professionals where applicable.
* Ensure consistent planning and high standards of service provision for the people supported.
* Set and review service objectives regularly with a view to improving and developing the service.
* Establish, maintain and monitor standards of performance for all aspects of the service, including involvement and consultation of the people receiving support.
* Manage risk in a systematic way, promoting the dignity of risk while ensuring safety, welfare and quality of life for those supported.
* Ensure compliance with Association policies and procedures, National legislation and New Directions.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary supports such as psychology, behaviour support, sensory integration, and ensure implementation of recommendations.
* Manage the smooth operation of transport for the day services.
* Ensure appropriate resources are available for quality service provision.
* Maintain regular communication with the individual\'s family or network of support through formal and informal means.
* Process and follow up on referrals to the service from HSE, other services and families.
* Engage with external stakeholders to promote and develop opportunities for people we support to engage in valued roles in their community.


Essential requirements

* Level 7 or higher qualification in Social Care, Nursing (RNID preferred), or another relevant health/social care discipline (Level 8 desirable).
* Formal management qualification in health or social care (minimum Level 6, e.g., Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Leadership or Management).
* At least three years’ management or supervisory experience in the sector, including supervision of staff and volunteers.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the role.
* For Nursing Applicants: Must be registered with NMBI in the relevant division and maintain active annual registration.
* For Social Care Applicants: Eligible to registration on the CORU Social Care Workers Register or eligible for registration.
* For Health Professionals: Must be registered with the relevant board under CORU and maintain active registration.
* Proven ability to lead and support teams; strong communication and interpersonal skills; flexibility.
* Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and use of information systems.
* Knowledge of statutory regulations, standards, the role of a person in charge and Health Act 2007.
* Experience with HR processes including grievances, disciplinaries, people management, communication and engagement.
* Experience in supporting individuals with specific and clinical support requirements and working in line with written protocols and guidelines (desirable).


Other

* Applicants must have a full driver\'s licence with access to a road worthy car insured for business purposes.
* Applicants must have necessary authorisation to work in Ireland and will provide supporting documentation during recruitment.


Highly desirable requirements

* Post-Graduate Diploma or Masters Degree in a relevant discipline.
* Senior management experience in Disability Services or a related sector.
