Project Accountant, Public Sector, Kildare
Contract
Our client, a Public Sector body based in Kildare, is currently looking to recruit an experienced Accountant to join their team reporting to a Financial Controller.
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain financial accounting systems and records
Prepare monthly Accounts and Annual Financial Statements
Plan for year-end cut off procedures, workload, etc.
Explain variations from budget
Deal with queries on annual accounts raised by auditors
Deal with Internal Auditors
Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial and other returns for Funding organisations
Maintain and reconcile on a monthly basis all balance sheet accounts
Prepare and submit tax returns, etc.
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register
Assist the Financial Controller with day to day running and supervision of Finance department
Supervision of the accounts payable and receivable areas
Budgeting/Costing
Liaise with Financial Controller in the areas of budgeting and costing; assist Financial Controller with preparation of annual budgets
Ad hoc Non Regular Duties
Assist Financial Controller with development of financial systems
Capital grant claims
Assist Financial Controller with the management of upgrades of financial systems
Qualifications, Experience & Person Specification
Each candidate must be a qualified Accountant (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ACA).
Candidates must ideally:
Have excellent computer and keyboard skills
Have excellent interpersonal skills and proven written and verbal communication abilities
Have proven organisational and administrative skills
Have the ability to work on own initiative, prioritise and manage a number of issues simultaneously and demonstrate attention to detail
Be able to identify potential difficulties and formulate solutions
Be of good character
The working week is 35 hours with 30 days annual leave.
This role is initially a contract with a view to permanency.
