We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to join our team.
About the Role
The Medical Secretary will be responsible for managing outpatient clinics, admissions, and day cases. This includes accurately typing and formatting medical reports, letters, and clinical documentation, as well as maintaining and managing patient records and correspondence.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring and updating waiting lists in line with national guidelines, coordinating cancelled/rescheduled appointments, and preparing statistical data and support departmental audits.
Furthermore, the Medical Secretary will ensure accurate and confidential management of clinical data, communicate effectively with consultants, GPs, patients, and internal teams, and support service delivery improvements and implement policy updates.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage outpatient clinics, admissions, and day cases.
* Accurately type and format medical reports, letters, and clinical documentation.
* Maintain and manage patient records and correspondence.
* Monitor and update waiting lists in line with national guidelines.
* Coordinate cancelled/rescheduled appointments.
* Prepare statistical data and support departmental audits.
* Ensure accurate and confidential management of clinical data.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to have:
* Proven administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
* Audiotyping skills and experience an advantage.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Proficiency in IT systems, including patient management software.
Benefits
This is a temporary agency contract opportunity working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm with flexi time. The hourly rate is €19.31.
