Temporary General Assistant/Caretaker Job
This role involves supporting the day-to-day operation of a Regional Skills & Training Centre. The Temporary General Assistant/Caretaker will ensure the efficient running of the centre by maintaining cleanliness, tidiness, and performing various maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain the overall cleanliness and tidiness of designated work areas.
* Clean and service wash-up facilities, toilets, and communal areas regularly.
* Monitor and operate the central heating system efficiently and economically.
* Regularly clean and maintain drains, water traps, and related systems.
* Optimize lighting usage to reduce costs.
* Keep external areas such as yards, pathways, and loading bays clean, safe, and well-organized.
* Oversee and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
* Clean and maintain dust extraction and fume extraction systems safely.
* Secure all windows, doors, and entry points in assigned areas before lock-up.
* Ensure utilities are switched off after hours.
* Report defects, hazards, or unusual occurrences promptly.
* Provide general operational support as required.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Forklift operation certification is advantageous.
* Experience or skills in basic carpentry, general repairs, or facility maintenance are beneficial.
* A strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to maintaining safety and cleanliness standards is essential.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy training environment is crucial.
