Overview of the roleThe Automation Manager will provide clear leadership and direction within our Automation Team as it continues to grow. This role will focus on team management, project oversight, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality automation solutions across our water and wastewater projects throughout Ireland. The successful candidate will take responsibility for guiding the team's development, supporting standardisation across our automation offering, be a subject matter expert and contribute to strategic planning within the wider Water Division.Role detailsContract Duration/Type: PermanentLocation: KilkennyHybrid/Onsite: HybridWorking Pattern (Time/Hours): Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 17:30pmDuties of the RoleLead, mentor and manage the Automation team in the design and implementation of control systems across multiple project locationsProvide oversight and guidance across all automation aspects of water and wastewater projectsSupport project planning, resource allocation and team coordination to ensure successful deliveryMaintain strong relationships with internal design, engineering, and project teams to ensure automation is effectively integrated into all project phasesSupport the professional development of engineers and technicians through coaching, training, and feedbackOversee the standardisation of automation practices, documentation, and quality control measures across projectsEnsure compliance with relevant industry regulations, company standards, and Health, Safety & Environmental requirementsStay informed of emerging technologies and drive innovation within the automation disciplineAssist in the selection and evaluation of automation technologies, suppliers, and subcontractorsManaging automation subcontractors, including selection, performance monitoring and coordination of activitiesResponding to and resolving client queries regarding automation systems and solutionsEnsuring all automation implementations comply with project specifications and standardsDeveloping and managing project budgets, including cost estimation and trackingAs a subject matter expert provide support to the Commissioning Team with particular oversight of Electrical Commissioning activities, processes and standardsRequired Skills/ExperienceDegree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or related field) or equivalent7 years+ of automation experience relevant to water and wastewater engineeringExperience in construction environment and applicable water and wastewater engineering projectsExpertise and knowledge of Water and Wastewater Treatment EngineeringKnowledge of IT and cyber security systemsEffective Time Management and Communication skillsSelf-sustaining engineer with ability to effectively work as part of a teamImportant informationIf you are an EU/EEA national, you will be asked to show proof of right to work in Ireland.
