Job Role Overview
The Hospital Support Team is seeking a Student General Operative to join their team. As a vital member of the waste management service, this role plays a crucial part in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Clinical and Domestic Waste Collection: You will be responsible for collecting clinical and domestic waste from wards and departments, ensuring it is prepared for external collection.
* Log Maintenance: Maintaining accurate logs and records as required is an essential aspect of this role.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation relevant to the role is critical.
You will also be required to carry an internal pager while on-site and participate in training programs. Additionally, you may be needed to work outside of normal hours at short notice when required.
Duties May Include:
* Collaborating with colleagues across the Maintenance Department.
* Providing assistance with Laundry and Catering portering as needed.
Requirements:
This role requires a strong work ethic, good initiative, and ability to adapt to varied tasks. Previous experience in a facilities or maintenance role, ideally within healthcare, is desirable but not essential.
Leaving Certificate or equivalent, flexibility, and reliability are necessary requirements. Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and organisational skills are also essential.
Eligibility to work in the EU and availability to work up to 30 hours to cover sick leave and annual leave from time to time are also necessary.
