Job Description
The role of 5-Axis CNC Machinist involves programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture high-precision components. This position requires a strong understanding of G-code, M-code, and CNC programming, as well as experience with Mazak, DMG Mori, Chiron machines.
Key responsibilities include:
* Reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and CAD drawings
* Creating and editing CNC programs using CAM software
* Understanding CNC nomenclature and making minor program alterations as needed
* Selecting appropriate tooling and work holding for each job
* Monitoring machine operations to ensure quality and precision
* Performing routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
* Collaborating with engineers and quality teams to optimise processes
* Ensuring compliance with ISO and other Quality Standards
* Working to tight tolerances and ensuring the quality of output by inspecting your own work
Required Skills & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* At least 3 years' experience in 5-axis CNC machining
* Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, and CNC programming
* Experience with Mazak, DMG Mori, Chiron machines (desirable but not essential)
* Familiarity with Hypermill Software (desirable but not essential)
* Familiarity with Heidenheim controllers (desirable but not essential)
* Ability to inspect parts using calipers, micrometres, and CMM's
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Training will be provided in areas where skills and knowledge gaps are identified, ensuring that you have the necessary tools to excel in this role.
