Job Overview
This is a 12‑month assignment. The Packaging Operations Team Lead will manage daily packaging operations, coordinate resources, and serve as the point of escalation. The role includes people management of packaging technicians and shift leads, leading product launch activities, process validation, regulatory inspections, and ensuring schedule and deadlines are met.
Responsibilities
* People manage direct reports of packaging technicians and shift leads.
* Ensure delivery of the production schedule and coordinate resources.
* Troubleshoot issues and facilitate appropriate resolution.
* Partner with Packaging BPS, Warehouse, QA & QC, Engineering and other colleagues.
* Represent the Packaging group at critical meetings (Daily Ops, S&OE, Functional Lead Team meetings).
* Report key performance indicators such as schedule adherence, changeover performance and unplanned downtime.
* Promote an active safety and compliance culture, including training records and plans.
* Keep SOPs, master batch records and other documents current under cGMP.
* Support daily operation of processing systems and work with plant engineering to maintain equipment and calibration.
* Collaborate with validation SMEs to prepare, approve and execute validation protocols and reports.
* Apply Right First Time (Six Sigma) and lean manufacturing practices to drive operational excellence.
* Coach, mentor and train shift leads and packaging technicians on processes, operational tools and high‑performance behaviors.
* Assist with performance evaluations and staff coaching.
* Participate in recruitment and hiring of Packaging operations team.
* Support plant optimization initiatives and capital projects.
* Support the Packaging strategic master plan with the Packaging project lead.
* Maintain visibility boards for packaging metrics focusing on schedule adherence and changeover performance.
Required Qualifications
Education
Degree in science, engineering, operations management or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience in a GMP environment.
Experience
* Successful influence on team performance in a high‑performance environment.
* Embedding a strong quality culture; Trackwise experience preferred.
* Strong communication skills across cross‑functional teams.
* Training and coaching experience in processing, operational excellence and team performance.
* Experience with regulatory inspections and interaction with inspectors.
* Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
* Experience in process development and/or technology transfer preferred.
