Investment Analyst Intern
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Investment Analyst Intern to join an experienced Investments team. Reporting directly to AVP, Assistant Portfolio Manager, the Investment Analyst Intern will: Support senior leadership in macroeconomic research and strategy, assist portfolio managers in managing a $12bn fixed income portfolio, and develop quantitative and AI-driven tools for market insights and reporting. The Investment Analyst Intern will be fully integrated into a dynamic Investments team and is expected to contribute across all sectors.
The asset portfolio is ~$34bn in size, and consists primarily of multi-sector fixed income, with more modest allocations to private and public equity. Investments contribute materially to the Company's overall return and generates ~$430m of income per quarter. Working with an experienced and talented Investments team that manages ~35% of the portfolio internally, the role also offers the opportunity to interact with some of the leading asset managers across the globe.
Core Responsibilities
* Support the AVP and SVP in macroeconomic research coverage by gathering data and developing insights to inform the firm's interest rate positioning and risk-taking strategy.
* Assist three portfolio managers in the day-to-day management of a $12bn fixed income portfolio, including performance monitoring, credit research, and portfolio construction modelling.
* Design and implement quantitative and AI-driven tools to generate market insights, support trade idea generation, and enhance manager oversight.
* Provide quantitative analytical support across investment strategies, working closely with portfolio managers and senior stakeholders.
* Contribute bespoke analysis and materials for periodic reporting and communication to internal stakeholders, including Executive Management and the Board.
Candidate Skills
* Degree or higher in quantitative fields such as business, finance, or mathematics with strong academic qualifications.
* Proficiency in Excel, plus experience with programming languages such as Python or/and R.
* Experience and interest in using AI tooling such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Co-Pilot.
* Knowledge of fixed income markets would be an advantage.
* An analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to take initiative, work in a team-orientated environment and unsupervised is essential.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Drive, energy, curiosity and ability to execute instructions in a fast-paced environment.
