Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed‑term position as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM), University of Galway, Ireland.
This is an early‑stage research role, funded through Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Funding Programme and is available from July 2026 for a 12‑month period initially, with a possibility for an additional 12‑month extension, subject to successful project outcomes and funding acquisition.
Organisation CÚRAM is a national, Research Ireland‑funded research centre that brings together researchers from University of Galway, University College Dublin, Dublin City University, University of Limerick, University College Cork, Trinity College Dublin, and Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. The prime objective for CÚRAM is to radically improve health outcomes for patients by developing innovative implantable “smart” medical devices to treat major medical needs.
The project will focus on the technical and preclinical development of a novel non‑invasive neuromodulation medical device with an aim to developing the technology towards the spin‑out stage. Specifically, the successful candidate will design, fabricate and assess a neural stimulation prototype device. The project will be conducted with commercialisation and industry partners to accelerate clinical translation.

Salary
Research Assistant salary scale €33,791‑ €43,872 per annum (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part‑time contracts.
