Assistant Director of Nursing We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join a well-established nursing home and rehabilitation centre based in Oranmore.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a service that is continuing to grow, with a strong and supportive senior clinical team in place.
The successful candidate will be based within the nursing home and will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care, with a particular focus on gerontology.
About the Role As ADON, you will work closely with the Person in Charge (PIC), Director of Nursing (DON), and Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) to support the day-to-day running of the service.
You will contribute to clinical leadership, governance, and the ongoing development of the service.
This role includes participation in an on-call rota shared across the senior clinical team.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Oversight Support the DON in overseeing daily clinical operations Ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care delivery Monitor and maintain compliance with HIQA standards Contribute to the development and review of clinical policies and procedures Staff Management & Development Supervise, support, and mentor nursing and care staff Assist with rostering and workforce planning Promote a positive, collaborative working environment Identify training needs and support staff development Governance & Quality Assurance Participate in audits, quality improvement, and risk management Support incident reporting and safeguarding processes Assist with HIQA inspections and regulatory compliance Resident-Centred Care Promote dignity, independence, and holistic care Support the development and review of care plans Build strong relationships with residents, families, and stakeholders Operational Support Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the service Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives Requirements Active registration with NMBI as a Registered General Nurse (RGN), or equivalent (RNID/RPN) Minimum 3 years experience in a senior nursing role within older person care Strong knowledge of HIQA standards and the Health Act 2007 Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills Genuine interest in gerontology Desirable Postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management, Gerontology, or similar (Support and funding available for further education) Interest in quality improvement and service development Whats on Offer Competitive salary package Free on-site parking Career progression opportunities Paid sick leave Educational support and funding Additional annual leave for on-call duties Supportive and collaborative work environment If youre a passionate nursing professional looking to take the next step in your leadership career, wed love to hear from you.
