The Role:The Financial Governance and Compliance Function delivers all Integrated Assurance activities and Continuous Controls Monitoring for Uisce Éireann. The function plays a key role in supporting the CFO and other Finance teams in activities related to oversight groups such as the Water Advisory Board, Public Accounts Committee and Oversight Monitoring Group. Additionally, the function is responsible for delivering the Expenditure Approvals Committee process in conjunction with the Commercial Team and drives an effective review process for commercial contracts in Uisce Éireann. It also oversees all Insurance activities for Uisce Éireann and provides preliminary audits and review services of the business on contracts implementation.
The Insurance area is not only responsible for ensuring that UE has the most appropriate insurance cover in place, but also for ensuring that insurance related claims are investigated and managed in a cost-effective manner in accordance with policy terms and conditions. The insurance team is responsible for supporting the Insurance Placement Team in the delivery of insurance programme placements, handling of insurance queries from the business and other duties as assigned.
Reporting to the Insurance Claims Regional Lead, the Insurance Claims Advisor will work to support the Claims Investigators as directed. The Insurance Claims Advisor will have day to day responsibility for providing support in the progression of a portfolio of liability claims through the lifecycle.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Desk based liability claims handling role working closely with the Insurance Claims team in developing and delivering Insurance Claims services to Uisce Éireann
Report to the Insurance Claims Regional Lead, to progress a portfolio of Liability Claims files from completion of the investigation phase through to settlement either through negotiation, PIAB and/or Court Settlement
Work as part of a claims handling team reporting to the Insurance Claims Manager and Claims Investigator in connection with all incidents/claim notifications and liaise with the business and other stakeholders to gather relevant information internally to assist in coming to a determination on liability
Prepare files for submission to claims review/reserve meetings and input in to claims reserving discussions as required
Maintain the claims database (STARS) in respect of the Portfolio of claims files and prepare claims reports/analysis on an ongoing basis
Liaise with Insurance Brokers/Insurers/Loss Adjusters regularly with regard to the status of incidents/claims
Support the Insurance Claims Manager and Claims Regional Lead in the preparation and handling of Uisce Éireann and subsidiary significant Property Damage/Business Interruption Claims in order to ensure a positive outcome is achieved
Assist the Insurance Claims Manager in respect of the Insurance renewal process and be in a position to provide claims statistics for the benefit of negotiations
Prepare periodic reports for presentation by the Insurance Manager and Insurance Claims Manager to Business Unit Management
Other duties as assigned.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Relevant third level qualification and/or Certificate of Insurance Practice CIP (Insurance Institute of Ireland/Chartered Insurance Institute) is desirable
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience
Claims handling and administration experience with an emphasis on Public Liability claimsAn understanding of the insurance market and various classes of general insurance with a particular emphasis on claims administration
Experience and knowledge of a self-insured environment would be an advantage
Experience in independently resolving customer challenges while maintaining high service standards.
Ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to look for and listen to diverse perspectives.
Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and make improvement decisions that benefit the team/communities.
Proven track record in identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation.
Demonstrate the ability to fix safety issues quickly and look for improvements in line with business strategy.
