Electrical Maintenance Technician Opportunity
A permanent Electrical Maintenance Technician is required to maintain and repair all production machinery and electrical systems within the facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and working closely with external technicians when specialised support is required.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on all electrical systems, production machinery, and equipment within the facility.
* Troubleshooting and resolving both electrical and mechanical issues on production machinery, including conveyors, mixers, packaging machines, and other equipment.
* Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical components such as motors, control panels, wiring, sensors, and power distribution systems.
Production Machinery Maintenance
The ideal candidate will take full responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of all production machinery, ensuring that equipment operates efficiently and safely.
* Conducting preventative maintenance and ensuring that all machinery is operating according to manufacturer guidelines and production needs.
* Overseeing machine modifications and upgrades to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
External Technician Coordination
The successful candidate will liaise with external technicians and contractors when specialised support or repairs are needed, coordinating their work to minimise production disruptions.
* Ensuring external service providers comply with company safety and quality standards when on-site.
* Monitoring and reviewing the performance of external contractors, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
Health & Safety Compliance
The ideal candidate must ensure all maintenance activities, particularly electrical work, comply with relevant health and safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures.
* Adhering to company standards, including food safety (HACCP, BRC) and electrical safety codes.
* Identifying and mitigating potential hazards and reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Operations Manager.
Essential Criteria:
* A qualified Electrician with a recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
* Proven experience as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably within the food production sector.
* 18th Edition qualified, Additional certifications in mechanical maintenance, multi-skilled engineering, or related discipline.
* Experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of production machinery and equipment.
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for both electrical and mechanical issues.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, technical drawings, and schematics.
* Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple maintenance tasks and prioritise work efficiently.
Desirable Criteria:
* Familiarity with working alongside external contractors and technicians for more complex maintenance tasks or specialised machinery support.
* Experience with control panels and automated machinery is highly desirable.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external service providers.
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8.30 am - 5.00 pm * Flexible to work around production hours and need to be available for callouts (£65 call out rate)
Salary: £40,000 per annum
