Environmental Manager (Food Production)

The role
Regulatory Compliance
* Ensure full compliance with EPA emission licences for:
* River discharges (effluent treatment plant)
* Stack emissions, including noise & odour
* Manage carbon compliance under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS)
* Complete the annual EPA Environmental Report
* Oversee EPA portal reporting, including non-compliance submissions
* COMAH Regulations
* Stay ahead of evolving local and national environmental legislation
Environmental Standards & Certifications
* Achieve and maintain ISO 14001 certification
* Lead ISO 50001 Energy Management compliance
* Drive continuous improvement in environmental performance
Data & Performance Management
* Collect, analyse and report daily/weekly environmental KPIs
* Translate data into action plans and measurable improvements
Operational Leadership
* Manage effluent treatment plant performance and maintenance schedules
* Control budgets for chemicals, energy use, and sludge disposal
* Ensure the plant operates to the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and site security
Training & Team Development
* Upskill and train effluent treatment staff
* Ensure team capability aligns with EPA licence requirements
Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain a strong, proactive relationship with the EPA
* Represent the business on the IBEC Environmental Working Group
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with site manufacturing teams
* Monitor product loss and implement practical loss reduction initiatives
Who we are looking for
* Strong experience in environmental compliance within a manufacturing environment
* In-depth knowledge of EPA licensing, ISO 14001 & ISO 50001
* Experience managing budgets and environmental data
* Confidence engaging with regulators and external stakeholders
* A practical, solutions-focused mindset
* Prepared to challenge the status quo when appropriate and be a thought leader in the business
