Role Summary
Dawn Meats is a premium meat processor and supplier of choice for a range of leading supermarket, foodservice and restaurant businesses. Dawn Meats is looking to recruit a Health & Safety Manager for our Charleville primary production facility with responsibility for all aspects of Health & Safety on site.
The successful candidate will be based at our Charleville facility and will be responsible for:
1. Developing, implementing, and executing H&S objectives & improvement plans in conjunction with Site Operations Management and Divisional H&S Manager;
2. Supporting site supervisors with the investigation of H&S incidents/accidents at the site. Where necessary, leading the investigation process and/or collaborating with senior management on serious incidents;
3. Partnering with relevant stakeholders such as Human Resources, Food Safety & Quality, Engineering and Operations departments with regards to H&S issues/concerns and addressing them in a timely manner;
4. Identifying site H&S training needs and delivering training sessions for employees and management as required;
5. Managing the induction process for new starters across the site;
6. Liaising with relevant authorities and bodies such as the Health & Safety Authority as necessary;
7. Ensuring all employees, contractors, third parties and visitors are compliant with H&S and Covid-19 requirements of the site;
8. Conducting internal audits and ensuring the site is audit ready at all times.
The ideal candidate will have or demonstrate:
1. Detailed knowledge of H&S Legislation;
2. A relevant qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., Level 6 QQI in Health and Safety) is required;
3. A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a Health & Safety role is required;
4. Ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks as necessary;
5. IT proficiency in Microsoft Office;
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
7. Previous experience in the food manufacturing sector is beneficial but not essential;
8. Manual Handling Instructor and Forklift Instructor qualifications would be beneficial.
