Carpenter Craftsperson
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter Craftsperson to join our Buildings and Estates Office team at the Cork Campus.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out maintenance and repair works as delegated by the Maintenance Supervisor in a safe manner.
* Work independently or as part of a team to achieve tasks and objectives.
* Report any faults or hazards to the Buildings and Estates Office.
* Participate in further training as required.
* Cooperate with changing requirements of the office.
Specific Duties:
* All carpentry-related works including door, frame, hinge, and lock repairs.
* Fit new doors and frames.
* Install locks on doors.
* Apply fire-stopping material around services.
* Repair windows, maintain window glass, and replace rooflights.
* Undertake miscellaneous carpentry works such as skirting, architraves, and window boards.
* Assist with events preparation and emergency evacuations.
* Fabricate timber units, cupboards, and shelving.
* Ensure quality standards are met for snag work undertaken by external contractors.
* Relocate and maintain demountable timber partitions and notice boards.
* Maintain the external fabric of prefabricated buildings.
* Perform external grounds maintenance.
* Act as Responsible Person when the Supervisor is unavailable.
* Be responsible for tools and equipment required for the work.
* Ensure adequate materials are stocked to complete tasks.
Requirements:
* Demonstrate ability to carry out duties and responsibilities.
* Hold a recognised National Craft Certificate or equivalent in carpentry.
* Have minimum 6 years current carpentry experience in facilities maintenance environment.
* Have good working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation.
* Hold a current Safe Pass Card.
* Exhibit good communication skills.
* Be able to work on own initiative and deliver prompt service.
* Be flexible to adapt to new challenges.
